Michael Callahan, MagCanica’s Senior Engineer and Data Scientist, attended the initial Formula 1 Grand Prix of 2024 in the Sakhir desert of Bahrain where he provided field support to both the FiA and customer teams to ensure a smooth beginning to the new season. The 20th anniversary of the Bahrain GP proved an exciting opening spectacle for those in attendance and those at home as well. A full decade after having been mandated across the grid for all clutch shaft systems at this very circuit, MagCanica’s torque sensor systems continue to be an important contributor to Formula 1’s powertrain performance monitoring and enhancement. Across the full grid of 20 vehicles, a total of 62 MagCanica torque sensor systems ran successfully across a variety of clutch shaft, MGUK shaft, secondary shaft, and driveshaft applications, providing teams and the FiA with valuable real-time data.
