Designed to operate with the existing engine output shaft of the Navy’s LCAC hovercraft, the LCAC torque-meter has been Mil-Spec certified and is a production product on the full fleet of LCAC ships. The electronics are fully analog, which limit the accuracy to ±2%, however do not require the need for software certification. Further information about the LCAC application can be found in MagCanica’s ASME Turbo-Expo publication published in collaboration with the U.S. Navy and also the Case Study (provide link to LCAC Case Study). The sensor is used for closed-loop control of the engines and for torque balancing across the full vehicle drivetrain.
